Watching Sparky
We were out of town and had hired a dog-sitter who got really sick. We were in quite the bind. We remembered about frugbi and were able to have our neighbor come watch Sparky on very short notice. It really helped save the day!
Goodie Bags for School
Somedays, you just need help assembling goodie bags. I was doing a fundraiser for our child’s school and had to pull together over 500 mini bags as giveaways over a holiday weekend. I posted a task on frugbi and had three neighbors come to help me finish what seemed impossible to me in a matter of a couple of hours. Since then, we have started a regular book club and help each other with more PTA related events.
A baby sprinkle
I was throwing a baby sprinkle for a work colleague and accidentally ruined the cake I had ordered. I was devastated and needed a last-minute replacement and posted on frugbi to see if anyone could help. My neighbor Jenny is obsessed with Nailed It and is somewhat of an amateur pastry chef. She pulled together this super sweet baby blue cake with stars and saved the day for me.
Rides to Physical Therapy
I had an ACL knee surgery a couple of months ago and had to be going to physical therapy three times a week. My husband was busy with remote work and school and wasn't able to accommodate all the pick-up drop-off’s. I heard of frugbi and thought I would check it out, and soon enough, I had neighbors who were willing and happy to drive me back and forth. The benefit wasn’t just financial, but I could connect with the community around me. We became more than strangers that waved hello and started to connect regularly.
Sweet 16 to remember
If it weren’t for frugbi, I would have never started to know that my neighbor Maria loved decorating. She spent hours on Pinterest and was so excited to help with our quinceanera. She and I created a board together, and then she helped us get crates from Home Depot and put together something so wonderful all the girls kept saying it looked straight out of Pinterest. We’ve built some great memories and now feel connected to our neighbor, who feels more like family.
Peppa
My kiddo is obsessed with Peppa Pig, and my husband and I are not crafty at all. All the store-bought ones were too big or too small, and so we posted this task on frugbi, and our neighbor Pete helped us create this fantastic personalized banner. Not only did he make the giant Peppa, but he then helped hang it up as well.
